Arranging a Baptism (also known as Christening)We welcome you into the fellowship of faith; we are children of the same heavenly Father; The birth of a child is an amazing gift and many families decide that they would like their child baptised or christened. To arrange a Baptism at any of our churches contact the team office on 0191 384 7825 or email durhamnorthteam@gmail.com (Office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10.30am – 1.30pm) Before we conduct the baptism, parents must attend a Baptism Preparation Evening, which are normally held every couple of months on a Sunday evening. Baptism families from across the Durham North Team of Churches will be there to explore what baptism is all about, through some fun activities! There’ll be a chance to ask questions and chat with other people who are going through the same process as yourselves. After hearing about the commitments made at a baptism service, you may decide that a Service of Thanksgiving for the gift of a child would be more appropriate. If so we will help make sure that this is a fitting celebration for you and your family. Baptisms normally take place at a separate monthly baptism service on a Sunday afternoon, which lasts around 45 minutes. When contacting us to arrange a baptism we will provide you with a few possible dates, depending on which church the baptism will take place at. There is no charge for baptism but we do invite you to make a donation as a sign of the importance that you attach to the gift of your child’s life and the priceless gift of faith which we give them at Baptism.
