WITTON GILBERT & SACRISTON
St Michael's and All Angels
St. Michael and All Angels, Witton Gilbert is a small village church, dating back to 1170, within a beautiful, calm and peaceful setting. It is remote from the village and set amongst a wooded landscape at the top of Witton Dene, a small local nature reserve on the Browney Valley. The Church is linked via a network of rural pilgrim paths to the 13C remains of Beaurepaire Priory, a monastic retreat to its South East and further to the City of Durham with its magnificent Cathedral beyond.

BREATHING SPACE
The Church embraces its location and setting, in doing so the PCC has created a Breathing Space project (charitable Trust) to help it grow into a centre of health and emotional wellbeing for the community of Witton Gilbert and surrounding villages. It has kitchen facilities, an office for the Project Officer, accessible toilet facilities and benefits from its own telephone and broadband connection.
